I’ve been holding back…

The recent local elections finally delivered something that Wales has needed for some time. Because of the way the constituencies in Wales were created, and because so many of the voters are located in the South of Wales, the Labour Party has had a monopoly on government in Wales.

This changed in the recent local elections, there was a change in the constituencies and also a massive change in the sentiments of voters.

The NHS has had a lack of investment for many, many years and has had broken promises for as long as I can remember. What is more, in North Wales the NHS has been mis-managed to the point that Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has spent more time in special measures than out of them in the last 15 years.

During the Covid crisis Boris Johnson who was the leader of the Conservative party and Prime Minister at the time repeatedly said that he would be "supporting and rebuilding the NHS once the emergency phase passed", that did not happen, the Labour Party picked him up on this but Labour who were in power at the time in Wales did NOTHING to improve the NHS in real terms.

So, now Plaid Cymru are the biggest party in the Welsh government, they do not have a majority and they say that they will ally themselves with other parties to ensure that they get things done.

Here is my message to Rhun ap Iorwerth who's Sennedd constituency is Bangor Conwy Môn - Betsi Cadwaladr University Health_Board is in your constituency, please fix it!

  1. Waiting times for an Ambulance are unacceptable, as are queues of ambulances waiting to unload at A&E
  2. A&E requires a triage system like the one employed during Covid that will send minor injuries to their GP not A&E
  3. Patients on beds in corridors is not acceptable except in a state of emergency
  4. Nurse's need a better pay deal followed by a better pay deal for Doctors and this needs to be an automatic linked to inflation deal.

Some other things that need fixing include; the discrepancy in investment between South Wales and North Wales, it is ALL Wales and should be equal. The A55 requires upgrading to a motorway to relieve the Summer traffic, as an ex business owner, getting to clients takes twice as long in summer and even if you can take a back road to avoid traffic the additional distance travelled increases fuel usage and costs.

The A55 is the primary road into the holiday destinations that exist in North Wales and that fuel the economy in the region, how many Motorways does South Wales have? Three (M4, M48 and A48(M), how many does North Wales have? Zero! I wonder if this is because the Senedd is in South Wales and the MPs only care about getting to work!

There are a lot of other things that need fixing but the above would be a massive start.
