From our base in Wellingborough we set out for Reading. Edda's long awaited birthday party (not quite Bilbo's), was the reason.
We had torrential rain overnight and by the time we left our temporary base, the British summer weather was still in force. Showers then!
By the time we reached Reading the clouds were clearing with the promise of a heavy shower about 4pm before a dry and warm evening.
It really was great to catch up with Ian and Edda, Ian was able to move about, albeit slowly on a Zimmer frame. Edda was well and her usual self.
A magnificent spread had been put on and everyone enjoyed the food and drink.
Most of the guests had been met during Edda and Ian's travels in Europe, and it was amazing to hear that several, like our hosts, had been to Australia.
On the subject of Australia, that was to be one of Kurts destinations (for the 2nd time), as he wouldn't be returning with us tonight.
Indeed, Kurt was off on his travels again. He would be taking Edda's camper for the week, meeting with friends for a few days before flying out to Japan again, then Australia, again, then he will be meeting his adorable French girlfriend June (Justine) before the next destination. What a great time he is having and I'm so proud of him. He is such a well rounded individual with a really caring attitude.
Ange, Tallulah and I set off around 7pm and got back to base for 9ish.
Tomorrow, we are meeting Tony, Sue, Paul and Justine for an evening meal at The Lakeside at Willen lake Milton Keynes. I'm looking forward to seeing them all.
